Membership Renewals
Membership Cycle
We’ve made renewing your membership with the Open Education Association simple and straightforward. Here’s how it works:
All Open Education Association memberships run on an annual cycle based on your individual join date. Your membership remains active for one full year and ends on the last day of the month in which you joined. For example, if you joined on March 10, your membership will renew on March 31 of the following year.
You’ll receive renewal reminders automatically before your membership end date, and your renewal date will update once your payment is processed.
Renewal Notices
You’ll get an email 30 days before your membership expires reminding you it’s time to renew your membership. You can renew your membership anytime within that window, and the renewed membership will begin on your anniversary date. For example, if your anniversary date is March 31 and you pay on March 1, your membership renewals will begin on March 31.
Auto-Pay
If you choose to enroll in Auto-Pay, your saved card will be charged 7 days after the renewal notice is sent. This automated process will ensure there’s no gap in your benefits. Members can opt into Auto-Pay during registration or manage it anytime by visiting the Payment section of the Member Portal to turn Auto-Pay on or off. Auto-Pay is enabled ONLY if you actively opt in.
Grace Period
All members have a 90-day grace period after the membership expires to complete their payment. During this time, your member benefits stay active, and your anniversary date will remain the same. After 90 days, your membership will be cancelled, your membership join year will be reset, and you will not have access to benefits until you renew.
Renewal Timeline
To make it easy to track your renewal, here’s how the process works step-by-step:
-
30 Days Before Expiration – Renewal notice sent.
-
7 Days After Notice – Auto-Pay cards are charged (only if you selected this option).
-
Expiration Date – Manual payments are due.
-
90 Days After Expiration – Grace period ends and membership is canceled.
Early Renewal
If you would like to renew your membership more than 30 days in advance, please contact us so we can add the bill to your Member Portal account. Early renewals work the same as regular renewals regarding your anniversary date. For example, if your anniversary date is March 31 and you renew on February 1, your new anniversary date becomes March 31 of the following year.
Receipts and Payment Confirmation
Payment receipts are sent automatically via QuickBooks (Intuit) once your transaction is processed. The email will come from a QuickBooks or Intuit address, so please check your inbox and spam folder if you don’t see it right away. Receipts serve as your official confirmation of payment and can be downloaded or forwarded for record keeping. You can also download your receipt from the Member Portal.
Please contact us if you require any additional documentation of your payment or membership at contact@opened.org.
Cancel Membership
You may cancel your membership at any time by contacting contact@opened.org. Note that membership dues payments are non-refundable for the current year, but you will not owe further dues.
