Megan Zara

Megan Zara (she/her) is the Open Education Librarian at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she leads the OER Trailblazers Badge Program and broader open education strategy for UTA Libraries. A former middle school English teacher and digital learning specialist with over a decade in K–12 public education, Megan brings deep expertise in instructional design, professional learning, and systems-level change. Her work centers on humanizing open practice through belonging, co-creation, and story-driven leadership. As a 2025–2026 THECB OER Fellow and OEN-trained open librarian, she advocates for inclusive, sustainable ecosystems that make open education a shared responsibility across roles and institutions.
