Professional Bio
Hailey Babb is the Open Education Program Manager at SPARC and is currently based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. In her role, she supports the SPARC Open Education Program’s policy and advocacy development and community organizing.
Hailey was an active student leader at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada where she co-organized the province of Alberta’s inaugural #TextbookBrokeAB campaign. As a direct result of this work, Hailey has been invited to speak nationally and internationally about her leadership experience in OER advocacy. As Student Union President, Hailey brought the issue of textbook affordability to both the Alberta Legislature and Parliament Hill (the nation's capital) as a delegate of the Council of Alberta University Students and the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations, respectively.
At SPARC, Hailey plays a key role in the open education team's major projects. Notably, she co-developed and instructs the SPARC Foundations in Advocacy Skills Program for academic professionals seeking to advance OER initiatives at their institutions and beyond.
