Professional Bio

Amanda C. Larson is a nationally recognized leader in open education, affordability, and open pedagogy. With over eight years of experience shaping the field, her portfolio includes extensive work in curriculum development, professional development, and publishing on topics of open pedagogy, open educational resources (OER), and the evolving role of libraries in this space.

Currently serving as the AERI Program Coordinator at The Ohio State University, Amanda provides strategic leadership for affordability initiatives, supports faculty adoption of open and affordable course materials, and develops programs that center student learning and inclusive pedagogy. Her curriculum development spans from creating graduate-level micro-courses at Kwantlen Polytechnic University to designing and facilitating learning circles for the Open Education Network.

Beyond her institutional contributions, Amanda is deeply engaged in service and governance at state, national, and international levels. She is the current Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Open Educational Resources in Higher Education, serves as a director for the Open Education Conference, and co-founded the Ohio Open Education Collective. Her leadership also extends to advisory and working groups across SPARC, DOERS3, and the Big Ten Academic Alliance.

Through this blend of scholarship, teaching, and governance, Amanda brings creativity, strategic insight, and a commitment to inclusivity to every aspect of her work advancing open education.
